Description

Name: Tulugaq (meaning Raven)
Age: Young Adult(4 years)
Gender: Male
Breed: Greenland Dog/ Canadian Inuit Dog
Height: 26" At the withers
Weight: 75 lbs.
Build: Thick stomach and neck, head appears smaller because of thick fur. Thick snout and large nose, however he also has small ears and a tail that cuts off short. Eyes are slightly slanted and narrowed, Legs are shorter, though they appear thinly framed they hold plenty of muscle to carry him far.
Accessories: His harness is made of bull elk hide, lined with thick fur from the very same elk for comfort and a bit of flare. The neck of the harness is lined with bear teeth, three on the left and three on the right.

Tribe: Illamar
Position: Swing Dog
Handler: Tulugaq's handler is Imnek, a young girl in the tribe, her father, Kinaktok, is the original handler of him. However, after Kinaktok settled down and had a son, he grew too busy providing, and requested that Imnek look after him. Tulugaq and Imnek have been inseparable ever since, with the male always looking after the little girl.

Personality: Tulugaq is incredibly hard to overlook. Although he stands at a fairly average height, they way he carries himself and the aura he gives off isn't easy to ignore. He always holds his head high, carrying himself in a proper position, and walking with absolute purpose. When he runs, the power of every muscle working ripples through his fur and off of his body. Though he appears to be a stoic individual with strong walls and a cut throat attitude, many would be surprised how friendly he truly is. He carries himself high in order to maintain a sense of well-being, and a positive attitude. Its easy for Tulugaq to feel as if he is not important or that he is not needed. Sometimes he comes off as a little desperate, trying to make friends and trying his hardest to be useful and help out others. But by no means does he try to be overbearing, he just simply tries to be the best he can be. However, this part of him he does try to suppress.

Because of his can-do attitude and insecurity, he actually turns out to be an incredible hard worker. He pushes himself to the limit a lot of the time, but has never pushed himself beyond his absolute limits, whether he is in the harness or out. He always tries to find new ways to better himself, to potentially get to his dream of being a lead dog. This is also why he enjoys to be a swing dog, to be as close to the front as he can be, without pushing the lead dog around. He is by no means an aggressive individual, nor a pushy one. He will not try to push himself into someone else's spotlight, and would rather wait for it to be hist turn, when he has earned his time in the limelight. Tulugaq never thinks when he is pulling a sled, his is only fully concentrated on his musher, ad the dogs around him. He only thinks about improving himself out of the harness.

Mentally, Tulugaq has a rather pessimistic attitude, and always assumed the worst of any situation. But on the outside, he tries to put a positive spin on every situation. Mentally this nearly destroys him. For the most part, he doesn't exactly enjoy the individual he has grown to become. Although he doesn't think that this growth in the wrong direction is his fault, he does believe he can fix himself.

Goal:
Tulugaq has quite a few goals. His main was is self-improvement, his goals are to remove most of his negative traits and replace them with good ones as well as new good habits to replace his ugly ones. His other goal is to hopefully become lead dog, hopefully one day. He does not push himself heavily toward this goal, althoug for him it's always nice to think about leading a team. And his last, but most important goal, is to protect the dogs and people of his tribe, and willing to put his life on the line for them.

History: Tulugaq was born within the Illamar lands, his sire was a Greenland dog, his mother a Canadian Inuit Dog. The owners of the two dogs bred them to see if the end result would bring a stronger, faster, and more endurance breed. Their guess ended up being correct. Each pup's tail was docked, and was in preparation of being traded to Kissima. Tulugaq was one of these pups. While on his way towards the borders, a young man stopped the breeder then, asking if he was able to trade for one of the pups. At first, the breeder refused, until the young man insisted, telling him his birthday was coming up. Tulugaq was traded for some large hearty pieces of seal meat, as well as a few pelts. The breeder believed this was too much for the little pup, but the man insisted he had potential So that day, instead of being traded to Kissima, he was brought back to Illamar lands. Many thought the dog was going to be rather aggressive and hard to train, but he turned out to be the exact opposite. The man, with the name of Kinaktok, decided to call the pup Tulugaq, meaning Raven. This name was chosen because like the bird, the pup was misunderstood as well.

As time passed, Tulugaq grew bigger and stronger, his training intensified, but the male blew through it with incredibly ease. They first stated him as a wheel dog. Tulugaq was eager on his first day, and readily introduced himself to everyone of the team. Unfortunately, a few of the dogs on the team weren't as excited as he was that he was there. In fact, many of them ignored him, and one of them even tripped the young dog during a run. This blossomed Tulugaq's insecurity, and most of his other bad habits and was of thought. Since then, he has always been afraid of other's not liking him, even though he has not had a similar issue since that day. Soon enough, his coming of age ceremony came. He took it with pride as the current Shaman blessed him, promising he was full of potential and strength. With this promise,
Tulugaq jumped from wheel dog to team, and finally to swing dog. He was incredibly proud of himself, and finally starting to get over his insecurities. However, Kinaktok began to spend less and less time with him, and more time with his new wife. This reignited Tulugaq's insecurities again, until new life was brought into the tribe, his owner's daughter, named Imnek. A few years passed and Imnek was old enough to frolic around with Tulugaq. The two are now incredibly close, Imnek helping her dog's healing process.
